What is FlexPay?

Think of FlexPay the same as you do putting gas in your car.  You pay for it before you use it.  You can purchase small amounts every few days or “fill up the tank” and not worry about it for several weeks.  When your supply is low, you simply purchase more.  Purchasing before you use it allows you to control your budget and pay how much you want, when you want.  Instead of a monthly billing statement, your usage and balance are calculated daily.  Statistics indicate that similar programs often help lower the customer’s bill due to their awareness of usage patterns.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

No. There is never a deposit with FlexPay.  You simply make payments to your account to increase your balance to the level you desire.

Do I get a monthly bill?

No. With FlexPay instead of receiving a traditional paper bill, usage is calculated daily (based on your actual electric usage, estimated water/sewer usage, etc. and a FlexPay service fee) and deducted from your balance. On this plan, you never pay a late fee.

How much money should I keep in my FlexPay account?

That is entirely up to you. The benefit of FlexPay is that you create the program to fit your budget.  You can purchase enough credit to last a few days, a week or more.

What if my FlexPay account runs low or even out?

When setting up your FlexPay account, we will customize ALERTS that will send you emails, text messages and even automated phone calls concerning your low balance.  If your FlexPay account falls below zero, you will receive an ALERT notifying you that your account will be disconnected and the electricity will turn off. However, purchasing more is easy 24 hours a day and there are no late or reconnection fees. The electricity is generally restored within 45 minutes after you make a payment.

How can I check my balance?

There are several ways you can check your FlexPay account balance.
  • You can call 855-837-6739 for 24 hour access to your balance and usage information.

  • You can access your account and usage information online through a secure website www.myusage.com. The website
provides access to your current balance, current usage, detailed usage history, transaction history, manage alerts, etc.

  • You can set up FlexPay to email your current balance daily to you.

  • You can use the MyUsage app for iPhones.

How can I make payments?

Payments can be made:

  • In person at the CUB office during normal business hours: 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

  • 24 hours a day either online at www.clintonub.com or by telephone 1-888-703-9195 with checking accounts or credit /debit cards. Clearwater convenience fees apply.

  • Pay using cash at any MoneyGram location (Walmart, CVS, etc.)  Hours vary and MoneyGram fees apply.

Is FlexPay the right choice for me?

Would it be easier for you to make daily, weekly or biweekly payments rather than one large payment each month?  This program works best for people who want to take control of their utility accounts.  By monitoring your consumption on a regular basis, you will begin to notice patterns in your day-to-day usage.  Any variation from this pattern, such as a house guest (increase) or vacation (decrease), will become evident as you monitor your account.  Monitoring and controlling daily usage can help keep those utility costs down.  Statistics indicate FlexPay programs help lower consumption due to the customer’s awareness of usage patterns.
