Position: Water Treatment Plant Operator
We will interview qualified applicants for this Full-Time Position who meet the following job requirements:
Under direct supervision this position will perform work to assist with the successful operation of CUB’s water intake and treatment plant facilities in order that water produced by the plant meets or exceeds State and Federal regulations. This position will also perform inspections, data collection, laboratory tests and plant maintenance as may be assigned.
Education and Training:
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Applicants with high scores on SATs plus advanced technical and mechanical abilities are highly preferred. Must have a valid Tennessee Driver’s License.
Abilities and Skills:
Applicant must possess or be able to learn, within a reasonable period of time, the basic knowledge and skills necessary for the successful operation of the water treatment plant and obtain at least a Grade III water plant operator certification. Must have the ability to be trained to use all equipment, tools, instruments, etc., necessary to perform all work required in the classification. Must be able to perform and positively contribute in a teamwork environment. Must demonstrate the ability to remain calm and function under emergency situations. This position will require working in shifts, including night shifts, as are assigned by the Chief Operator and shift hours and days may vary from week to week and month to month. This position will have contact with employees in other CUB departments, the general public and contractors. Applicant must be able to communicate effectively with other water plant personnel, W&S crew members, other CUB personnel, contractors and the general public when necessary. Must have and maintain a valid Tennessee driver’s license. A State of Tennessee treatment plant certification or license will be required for advancement.

This position is subject to pre-employment drug screening, random drug testing and adherence to the Board’s standards for a drug-free workplace.
